BMW 2 Series Engine Information
The BMW brand is synonymous with refined driving experiences and reliable engineering. So, it’s no surprise you find this in the 2 Series. Both older and newer models showcase impressive and ergonomic cabins and smooth gear change whether you opt for the manual or automatic.
The 2 Series BMW offers the choice of petrol or diesel power, and each brings the fun as soon as you put your foot down. You’ll typically find a 1.5 or 2.0-litre engine in the petrol 2 Series. BMW 2 Series Practicality and Running Costs
Coupe and convertible cars don’t always go hand-in-hand with practicality. However, the BMW 2 Series does stack up against rivals well. Boot size - you’re looking at around 390 litres in the coupe and 280 litres if you opt for the convertible. The Gran Coupe is the best bet if you want extra space, as the 430 litres is ideal for most everyday storage needs. All used BMW 2 Series models give you a choice of two or four doors.
What it lacks in interior space, it does make up for in fuel economy. Both petrol and diesel models provide great mpg with petrol around 35-45mpg and diesel approx. 50-60mpg.

BMW 2 Series Interior, Technology and Safety
Newer models of the BMW 2 Series feature many high-spec systems, including an infotainment touchscreen and digital instrument display. You also get driver assistance features, including climate control, safety alerts and parking sensors.
A selection of BMW 2 Series used cars have the standard analogue display, but this still looks stylish and sleek against the upholstery and cabin design. You also get Bluetooth connectivity and air conditioning.

BMW 2 Series History
The BMW 2 Series was first available in 2014 and was a sportier upgrade to the 1 Series Coupe. Most notably, this model featured sharper styling and a few mechanical adjustments alongside premium interiors. This coupe proved a big hit with drivers due to its different driving modes and impressive road handling.
In 2017, the 2 Series got a facelift and leaned towards a sportier silhouette. Inside, there’s more room, and a host of details heightened the premium feel of this model.
Following its success, BMW unveiled its newest 2 Series model in 2021. It’s packed with the latest technology and has a slightly more prominent grille and slim LED headlight for a striking road presence.

The BMW 2 Series has fewer reported faults than some of its rivals. However, as this car packs a punch, it’s best to watch out for some overzealous previous driving traits that could cause issues.
If it’s a diesel model driven very few miles or shorter distances, you could also run into blocked DPF filter problems. Most BMW models also come with run-flat tyres. So, check if they’ve been swapped as this can affect the tyre-pressure monitors.
It's advisable to go through the service history and repair history to get an insight into previous work carried out.
